Save Money Booking Spirit Airlines Ticket at the Airport
Did you know you can save even more money off Spirit’s low fares by buying your tickets at the airport counter. Read on to find out the pros and cons of doing so and if it’s worth it for your family.
If you purchase your tickets at the Airport, you can save about $22.99 per passenger per way. The Spirit receipt given at the airport doesn’t breakdown the charges but you can see the Passenger Usage Charge that you don’t have to pay when you book online.
You have to determine if this extra savings is worth your time and trip to the airport. Here are pros and cons to consider. Also note, future ticket sales are only available during normal business hours, at O’Hare Airport there was a sign that noted 9am to 6pm. This hack is best for those who live near the airport or travel frequently and have time to stop by the ticket counter.
PROs
- Save $22.99 per person per way. This can add up if you are booking for a large group.
CONs
- Cost of travel time to the airport, plus gas, tolls and parking fees.
- Cannot use points/cash or any certificates/vouchers/travel credits/companion discounts, etc.
- Spirit Fares may be higher than other travel sites.
- Cannot buy bags with your tickets, you must buy separately online after the tickets are issued. Bags are cheapest when bought online at the same when you buy your tickets. The additional cost for bags is negatived a bit if you have the Spirit Saver’s Club membership.
